MetaTrader 4 & 5
Install on MetaTrader 4 & 5
quantedOptions Profile on your MetaTrader 4 & 5 charts. About ten minutes.
Before you start
MetaTrader 5 and MetaTrader 4, Windows or macOS. One platform pick covers both: quantedoptions_profile_metatrader5.zip for MT5, and the MT4 build linked beside it on your plugin page.
Two pieces. qO_Feed fetches the data and holds your key — on MT5 it is a service (it runs in the background, no chart needed); on MT4, which has no services, it is an Expert Advisor you put on one chart. qO_Profile is the indicator that draws. MetaTrader does not let an indicator reach the internet, which is why there are two.
Works on US500 / SPX500 / US100 / NAS100 / USTEC / US30 / US2000, XAUUSD, XAGUSD, USOIL / WTI / XTIUSD, BTCUSD, ETHUSD and the other spellings platforms use (with suffixes like .cash, .r, m or #), Brent (UKOIL / XBRUSD), Bovespa (IBOV / BRA50), China H / Hong Kong (CHINAH / HK50), Euro Stoxx 50 (EU50 / EUSTX50), the futures roots, and the feed's own tickers (SPY, QQQ, the 50 stocks …).
One of the platforms you choose with your plan — one pick covers MetaTrader 5 and MetaTrader 4.
Install
Sign in at your Orderflow Plugin page and download
quantedoptions_profile_metatrader5.zip. The page lists the platforms on your plan and shows your API key.In MetaTrader: File › Open Data Folder, then open
MQL5.Copy
qO_Feed.ex5intoMQL5\ServicesandqO_Profile.ex5intoMQL5\Indicators. (MT4:MQL4\ExpertsandMQL4\Indicators— see below.)Tools › Options › Expert Advisors: tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL and add
https://www.quantedoptions.com.MetaTrader blocks every web address that is not on this list. Without it the feed reports error 4014.
In the Navigator (Ctrl+N), right-click Services › Refresh, then right-click qO_Feed › Add service. On the Inputs tab paste your API key, then OK.
If it does not start on its own, right-click it › Start. One service feeds every chart.
Open a chart of a covered symbol and drag qO_Profile (Navigator › Indicators) onto it.
It makes room right of the candles for the ladder (MetaTrader's chart shift) and puts your chart's own setting back when you remove it.
Connection settings
Same on every platform; only the labels differ a little.
| Setting | Enter |
|---|---|
API key (qO_Feed) | your qo_live_… key — on the feed, not the indicator |
API base URL (qO_Feed) | https://www.quantedoptions.com/api |
Options underlying (qO_Profile) | AUTO — from the chart symbol, platform spellings included |
Price conversion | AUTO |
Book | today's / nearest expiry (0DTE) · all expiries — pick All expiries for Brent and China H / Hong Kong |
Every other setting is one line each on Settings explained.
How to tell it works
A ladder of bars on the right of the chart, one per strike, and a small panel in the bottom-left corner. The panel's first line
names the chart and the source — ES · from SPX 0DTE 08-19 — then the prices: SPX 6480.25 → ES 6512.00.
The dot in the panel header: green = fresh, amber = a few minutes old, red = stale. Outside market hours the last data is held and the dot stays green.
MetaTrader 4
Same files, built for MT4, and the same settings. Two differences:
Copy
qO_Feed.ex4intoMQL4\ExpertsandqO_Profile.ex4intoMQL4\Indicators, then restart MetaTrader 4.MT4 has no services, so the feed is an Expert Advisor.
Tools › Options › Expert Advisors: tick Allow automated trading as well as the WebRequest address, and turn on the AutoTrading button in the toolbar.
qO_Feed places no trades; MT4 simply runs no Expert Advisor without it.
Drag qO_Feed (Navigator › Expert Advisors) onto any one chart, paste your key on Inputs, OK — a smiley face in the chart's corner means it is running.
It can share a chart with qO_Profile. A chart holds one Expert Advisor, so use a chart without a trading robot on it.
Update to a new version
Copy the new files over the old ones in the data folder. MT5: stop and start the qO_Feed service (Navigator › Services) and remove + re-add qO_Profile on your charts. MT4: restart MetaTrader.
If it doesn't work
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The chart says “waiting for the qO Feed service” | The feed is not running. MT5: Navigator › Services › qO_Feed › Start. MT4: put qO_Feed on a chart and turn AutoTrading on. |
| The feed reports WebRequest error 4014 | The web address is not allowed yet — Tools › Options › Expert Advisors › Allow WebRequest, add https://www.quantedoptions.com. |
| “… is not a covered symbol” | That symbol has no book (forex pairs, most other non-US indices). On a renamed symbol, pick the Options underlying by hand in qO_Profile's settings. |
| Only a few bars, or none, on Brent or China H / Hong Kong | Set Book to All expiries in qO_Profile's settings. |
| MT4: a frowning face on the qO_Feed chart | Turn on AutoTrading in the toolbar and tick Allow automated trading in Tools › Options › Expert Advisors. qO_Feed never trades — MetaTrader 4 runs no Expert Advisor without these. |
| MT4: the files do not appear in the Navigator | Restart MetaTrader 4 — it reads its folders on start. |
| The panel or label reports HTTP 401 or 403 | Check the key: no spaces at either end. Lost it? Regenerate it on your plugin page and paste the new one. A 403 also happens with an out-of-date plugin file — download the current one. |
| Nothing draws and there is no error | Check the URL. It must be exactly https://www.quantedoptions.com/api. Without www the request is redirected and the plugin does not follow redirects. |
| Bars draw at the wrong prices | The chart has no live last price yet (a fresh chart with no ticks, or a symbol the plugin does not recognise). Wait for a tick, or set the underlying by hand. |
| The panel says rate limited | You have more charts open than the key allows across all machines. Close a few, or wait a minute. |
